Jack and Sharon Symons and Their 65 Years of Marriage Sharon Boklund and Jack Symons met in 1960, and true love happened. They married that Oct. 9 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palo Alto. Jack worked then for PG&E, in '62 making a change to law enforcement as a police officer in Redwood City. Two years later, he joined the California Highway Patrol. The Symonses moved to Santa Rosa when, in '67, Jack transferred to the CHP office in Sonoma County. Sharon became a production worker at Hewlett Packard/Agilent. They welcomed into the world two daughters, Sherri and Suzette. When they weren't working, they savored spending time with their daughters and their grandchildren, Dustin, Thomas and Ali, and their great-grandchildren, Rhodes, Remi and and Beau. And they cruised - to Alaska, Mexico, the South Seas, Australia and Europe. Jack was a CHP officer for 31 years, and he worked part-time at the Larkfield Body Shop for 40 years. Sharon worked 26 years at H-P/Agilent, then took a part-time position in the Garden Loft at Mission Ace Hardware. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last October with family at the beloved La Gare restaurant. Their advice for long and happy marriage: Love each other, give and take, always be willing to compromise. And this: cherish each day together, as you never know which day will be your last. Sharon passed away two months after the anniversary celebration, on Dec. 13, 2025.
